2/27/10, Saturday     Beautiful day with calm to variable light winds and temps in the 60's.  Four members arrived at the field at approx 3:00PM.  We made nine flights, taking off to the south and landing back to the north. There were hints of weak lift, but nothing strong enough to gain any altitude once off tow.

3/14/10, Sunday     The flying began around noon.  The first two flights of the day found weak lift off tow and lasted over 10 minutes.  The lift then vanished for the next several flights. After a short lunch break later in the afternoon, flights resumed with the first flight climbing to 5400' off tow with climb rates up to 900' feet per minute. The flight lasted over 30 minutes. Atfer one more flight of slighly shorter duration, the lift again disappeared. A total of 14 flights were made. All tows were auto-tows.

3/31/10, Wednesday   Flights began after 1:00 PM. With highs in the 90's we were hoping to find some decent lift, but what we found was pretty weak. Not much more than pattern altitude was ever achieved. The buzzards weren't even climbing. We made 11 short flights for the day.  All were launched by auto-tow.  Despite the weak lift, it was still a fun day because auto-tows are fun to do and landing practice is never a bad thing.  Two power pilots also got their first glider rides.

5/29/10, Saturday   Flew two long flights today beginning around 2:30 PM.  Conditions were great and altitudes of 8300' and 8900' were achieved.

8/15/10, Sunday      Scott and Charlie had a good flight in the 2-33.  From an auto tow release altitude of 2800' MSL (800' AGL), they were able to thermal up to 10,300' MSL. where they flew for 2 hours in the nice cool air until they came back down to the 105 degree temps on the ground so others could fly. They probably could have stayed up another 2 hours or more.

Jan 2011,   Flew again for the first time since October of last year.  All licensed pilots became current again and flight training of other members resumed.  New tow ropes were built and we can now consistently achieve over 1000' per tow.  Our tow plane may also be ready this spring.

1/29/11, Sunday     CVSA soloed it's first student, congrats Charlie.  Charlie made 3 solo flights finding what little lift was out there to maintain flights above pattern altitude over the field briefly.

Feb. 2011,   Weather kept us grounded.

3/19/11,  Saturday   A decent soaring with flights over an hour and alitudes over 5000' agl.  Student training also took place.

4/20/11, Wednesday   With the abundance of high wind weekends we've seemed to have this year, we decided to fly on a weekday. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of the front to our south and west for decent soaring conditions.  We still made 5 launches for practice. The last couple of flights we encountered a little weak lift, but as soon as  conditions seemed to possibly be improving, anvils blowing off the weak thunder showers to our west blocked out the sun, therefore killing the thermals that may have been starting to generate. One more flight was made to land at the intersection near the hangar.  A line of thunder showers was moving in from the west, so it was time to put the equipment away.

6/7/11, Tuesday   Despite a stiff crosswind, several flights were made with Charlie having the 2 best flights of the day. He reached 5,100' on the fist flight and 8,100' on the second. He flew for approximately three hours.

8/1/2011....Concho Valley Soaring Association now has a towplane!

8/3/11,  Wednesday   Aerotow Scott up to 2000' in his Schweizer 1-26. He flew for over nine hours, landing at sunset and reaching an altitude of 11,900'.

8/6/11, Saturday    Decided to move operations for now to Ducote Airpark due to the numerous small rocks that could be picked up by the propeller on our current airfield.  From an autotow, Scott managed a 6.5 hour flight in the Schweizer 2-33 and attainted an altitude of 11,700'.  He landed at Ducote where the glider is currently hangared.

8/8/11 - 8/9/11    Conducted tow pilot training to meet FAA and insurance requirements. Flights began at 7:00 AM while the air was smooth and lasted unitl 9:00 AM when some members had other obligations.

Aug. - Oct.   Several good soaring flights were had thanks to our new tow plane. Several flights over 10,000 MSL and several hours in duration were had in the 1-26 and 2-33.

Nov. 2011    Congrats to Charlie Landers for earning his private glider license to go along with his power rating.

2012

1/29/12   First glider operations of the new year.  Flights were mainly for currency, but a little lift was found with temps around 60 degrees.

Tow pilot training. August 8-9th at Ducote Airpark.
