Our club's glider is a Schweizer 2-33A. It was built in 1968 and is serial #92 out of over 500 built. The 2-33 is one of the most popular 2 seat trainers in the world and is famous for it's gentle flight characteristics and  it's ruggedness.   We found our 2-33 in August of 2009 in Delphi, Indiana.  It had not been flown in over ten years. After the purchase, our club president made the long trip up to retrieve the glider and brought it home. Most gliders are made to easily dissassemble and load onto trailers, but the 2-33 is much different. It is quite large and heavy compared to most sailplanes.  Usually, once these ships are assembled, they stay that way.

After arriving home, we inspected the glider for corrosion and checked all the critical structural areas. The airframe turned out to be in very good condition.  We then replaced nearly all the hardware (nuts, bolts, etc...) on the entire ship. This turned out to be a rather time consuming job.
